By ferry

Aalsmeer is a wetland village. That may be the reason why you are visiting. The Westeinderplassen is a large and unique water sports area with many marinas, restaurants and a real surf island in the bay. A diverse recreation area where you can completely relax and let off steam.

The Westeinderplassen network

The Westeinderplassen is connected by the Ringvaart to the Kagerplassen, Nieuwe Meer and many more canals and lakes around the Haarlemmermeer. The Westeinderplassen is made up of one large and several small lakes which form a rich and unexpected wetland area. Grassy islands are characteristic of the area, and some of these are accessible to the public. A network of small channels connects the lakes, and there are beautiful marinas along the banks.

Ringvaart ferry service

Cyclists and pedestrians can cross the Ringvaart from the Haarlemmerpolder thanks to a Ringvaart motor ferry service. The ferry connects Aalsmeer at the end of Uiterweg to Rijsenhout. The service provider is Waterwolf Dienstverlening, on behalf of the municipality of Haarlemmermeer.

The Ringvaart ferry service is open from Monday to Friday, from 7:00 to 17:45. This ferry service is also open on weekends from April 1st to October 31th from 10:00 to 17:45. The ferry also operates during the Art Trail on the third weekend in September.
